The full cast of Viva Forever, the musical based on the songs of The Spice Girls, has now been revealed, joining previously-announced stars Sally Ann Triplett and Hannah John-Kamen.
In her West End debut, John-Kamen will play Viva, a teenaged girl who finds fame via a reality television singing competition. Triplett will play Viva’s mother Lauren. Currently performing as Donna in Mamma Mia!, her additional credits include Lend Me a Tenor, Anything Goes, Cats, and Guys and Dolls. She also represented the UK in two Eurovision contests, in 1980 and 1982. They both took part in workshops of the musical before winning the roles for the show’s world premiere.
Viva’s best friends who also enter the competition will be played by Siobhan Athwell, Lucy Phelps, and Dominique Provost-Chalkley. Lucy Montgomery will play Lauren’s best friend Suzi. Her television credits include The Might Boosh, The IT Crowd, and Torchwoood, and she previously worked with writer Jennifer Saunders on Absolutely Fabulous. Simon Slater will play another friend, Mitch. His theatre credits include Waiting for Godot, Mamma Mia!, and Forbidden Broadway.
The roles of the TV talent show judges will be played by Sally Dexter, who recently played the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Bill Ward of Coronation Street and The Lion King, as well as Tamara Wall, whose credits include Legally Blonde and Eastenders.
Ben Cura will make his West End debut as the TV show’s musical director, as will Hatty Preston as the production assistant, Minty. Taking on roles in the ensemble will be Simon Adkins, Curtis Angus, Myles Brown, Sophie Carmen-Jones, Darren Carnall, Charlotte Gorton, Luke Jackson, Tom Kanavan, Rebecca McKinnis, Carla Nella, Zak Nemorin, Roxanne Palmer, Oliver Roll, David Rudin, Kirstie Skivington, Lucy Thatcher, Helen Ternent, Anthony Topham, and Charlotte Walcott.
The production begins previews on 27 November before opening officially on 11 December.
